Help Using SmartLegalForms.com™

What makes SmartLegalForms different from other online legal Web sites?

At SmartLegalForms you are able to assemble a legal document or legal form through your web browser instantly and Try Before You Buy.  Moreover, you have the option of purchasing legal forms bundled with legal advice for a fixed fee through our growing network of virtual law firms.

How are legal documents created?

Your documents are created with the help of our intelligent document automation technology, which asks you a series of easy-to-answer questions that tailor themselves to your circumstances. Each question is accompanied with explanatory notes designed to provide you with the information needed to answer the question correctly. Further guidance and legal information is available in the accompanying comprehensive user notes. The use of this document automation technology enables the SmartLegalForms.com network of law firms to keep legal fees low. Traditional law firms generating documents using "cut and paste" methods results in higher costs.

Your document can then either be created for you instantly, or your answers can be submitted to a law firm which completes your document and returns it to you for review.

The information you enter will be stored securely online, allowing you to access and complete the questionnaire at any time.

    What is Rapidocs®?

Rapidocs® is our intelligent document automation technology that works by asking you a series of easy-to-answer questions. Based on your answers to these questions your document is tailored to your circumstances.

Each question is accompanied by explanatory notes designed to provide you with the information needed to answer the question correctly. Further guidance and legal information is available in the accompanying, comprehensive user notes.

I don't understand what a question means or is referring to.

Most questions are accompanied by explanatory notes designed to provide you with the information needed to answer the question correctly. A small "?" (question mark) icon by any question indicates that there is explanatory text to help you answer a question. Click on the "?" to see the help text; click on the "?" again to close the help text pop up box.

I have a red asterisk next to a questions group after completing my document. What does this mean?

If you have a red asterisk next to a questions group, this shows that you have missed answering a question. Double click on the questions group to view and complete any unanswered questions. Questions specifically listed as "optional" or that have help text indicating the question may be skipped or left blank, can remain unanswered. Otherwise, complete required questions to ensure the accuracy of your document.

What types of file formats are available?

The forms are available in Microsoft Word format (.doc), Rich Text format (.rtf) and Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf).

The Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format works on both PCs and Macs. You need the free Acrobat Reader software to view these files (or the Preview Application included in Mac OS X). The benefit of Acrobat (.pdf) files is that they look and print identically on all computers. However, our Acrobat files are not editable. You may only print them.

Rich Text Format (.rtf) is a simple text format that supports simple effects such as bold type. This format will open on any PC or Mac, but is more difficult to format.
